“Born in Accra, Celebrated Worldwide.”
Year 2020
Osafohene Dr Afua Asabea Asare, created an international art fair that proved to be a success from the start. More than 8,000 visitors attended the inaugural show to see 36 artist exhibit over a 5 day period at the Accra International Conference Center’s Grand Arena. It was the biggest art fair, the first of its kind.
The SoundOut Premium Arts Exhibition is a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian art and culture, offering a unique opportunity to experience the talent and creativity of local artists.
The event features live music, forums, and exhibitions of top-notch, indigenous, and contemporary artistic talent.
Year 2021 & 2022
Expanded formats and growing international reach.
In 2021, SoundOut launched the “Accra in Paris” event, marking its first edition outside Ghana and in 2022, The SoundOut exhibition was once again held in Paris with the support of UNESCO and the Embassy of Ghana.
Year 2023
In 2023 SoundOut consolidated its position as a major meeting point for the contemporary art industry in Ghana. New sectors including craft and photography, broadened the fair’s scope, reflecting an expanding understanding of contemporary artistic practice across media.
Year 2024
Raising standards and strengthening the ecosystem
In 2024, SoundOut introduced a more rigorous and structured art selection process, reinforcing quality, transparency, and curatorial coherence. This approach – with an independent selection committee at its heart – set new benchmarks for art fairs internationally and helped define the professional standards that continue to shape the sector today.

Building on a five-year legacy.
