Accra in Paris Exhibition

The “Accra in Paris” exhibition was an international edition of the SoundOut Premium Art Exhibition that took Ghanaian contemporary art to a global audience in Paris, France. It marked the first time the SoundOut platform expanded outside Ghana, helping position Ghanaian artists within the international art market.

Overview of “Accra in Paris”

The event was organized by the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in partnership with the UNESCO, the Ghana Embassy in France, and the French Embassy in Ghana. The exhibition took place in April 2022, with events hosted at venues including the Maison de l’UNESCO and Élysée Montmartre in Paris.

The initiative aimed to introduce Ghanaian contemporary art to European collectors, galleries, and cultural institutions, while strengthening cultural ties between Ghana and France.

3. Cultural Exchange and Collaboration

“Accra in Paris” was part of a larger cultural festival that also included a music concert bringing together Ghanaian and French artists. This multidisciplinary approach strengthened creative exchange between the two countries.

4. Global Market Exposure

The exhibition helped Ghanaian artists:

  • Connect with international collectors and galleries
  • Expand opportunities for art sales and commissions abroad
  • Promote Made-in-Ghana creative products on the global stage

Some artworks were even left with a curator in Paris for continued sales after the exhibition, extending the event’s commercial impact.

The exhibition was important because it:

  • Marked SoundOut’s first international expansion
  • Positioned Ghana as a growing hub for contemporary African art
  • Created global networks for Ghanaian artists
  • Strengthened cultural diplomacy between Ghana and France

It also reinforced the broader mission of SoundOut—to build a global platform for Ghanaian art and creativity.
